BUCKLERS LEAD -- OTHERS FOLLOW

Back Up Next

We received an email some time ago from Chris and Sally Winder. I replied but never heard back... here's an extract. Is this car the same as one of the cars Ray tested?

I had a Buckler in the early 1960's with a TR3a or was it a TR2 engine / g/box, split Buckler front axle
I bought it unbodied and a friend made me a rather futuristic new body. It was known to the local BARC section as "The Batmobile" , I hillclimbed and sprinted it for a season in the North of England and a memorable trip to the Tholt -y Will hillclimb in the Isle of Man. I then bought a Mk6 Elva Climax and sold the Buckler to a Bradford motor trader friend Chris Green of K.T.Green at Shipley. I wonder has it survived. I re-registered it with an E or D [1967/66] number. I can find out exactly as I have photographs not far away from hand.

Stan wonders if she was OWX 300E
The car described by Chris sounds like the Mark 17 that Glyn Luff is just about finished rebuilding, that has an E reg as you will see in your Archive and it was originally fitted with TR running gear. Thanks Stan.
