I'm 99% sure the photo you mention is of SUG 55, the ex-Allan Staniforth, now John Gough, car. Though Allan initially campaigned it in white (or a very light colour), by the end of 1955 the car had been painted a dark colour and features that match exactly to the car in the Chiltern Cars ad include the windscreen, the wheels (though they too were dark in late 55) and, perhaps most distinctively, the petrol filler high on the offside, just behind the driver.
Interestingly, the same car reappeared in Chiltern Cars ads (with, amusingly, another from the same set of photos - this time with the lady looking straight ahead) in November 1960, by which time the price had halved to £195. One hopes they hadn't had it in stock all that time!
